Bird Care Tips: How to Handle Your Pet

Birds are the most preferred pets after cats and dogs. Numerous birds are there which can be a good pet. They become a member of your family. However, follow some bird care tips or you will make mess of it.

Selection of birds

When you decide to tame bird as your pet, you have too many choices. But some care should be taken when you select your bird. Some small birds like canaries and parakeets require least amount of care while birds like parrots, cockateels and cockatoos need fare amount of care and affection. Also make sure you are selecting healthy bird as your pet.

Feeding the bird pet:

Most birds prefer seeds as their food. Also nutrition rich food should be included in their daily feed. Offer fresh vegetables and fruits everyday to your pet. Make sure you take away the remaining uneaten foods from the shelter. Provide fresh and cold water throughout the day.

Shelter:

Bird pet would love to have their own home. In fact, it is important aspect of bird care. Provide large enough cage so that your bird can stretch wings and also fly some distance. Place your bird’s cage in the bright, warm part of your house. As birds are scared of fumes, do not place cage near your kitchen.

Expenditure:

You have to spend some bucks in order to have a pet in your house. When you decide to have bird pet, first you have to buy a cage or shelter. Other expenses regarding your bird pet include food, toys and veterinary care.

Care:

Some of the birds seek affection and care. They get attached with their owner. So you need to spend some time to learn bird care tips. You can provide them toys like ladders, swings, bell to play with. Also clean the cage of the bird regularly.
